999 Academy Graduates on the DSFRS Apprenticeship Programme

March 7 2019

Congratulations to Lili Ibbotson and Owen Cheffey, graduates of the first Bridgwater 999 Academy at Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC), who have completed their initial core skills course on the Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service Apprenticeship Retained Firefighter Programme.

Lili and Owen attended the first Bridgwater 999 Academy, passing out in June 2018, and were successful in obtaining places on this new programme for DSFRS which has only 12 apprentices across Devon and Somerset.

Throughout the next two years, they will attend drill nights each week and also take part in further courses at weekends where they will develop skills in using ladders, pumps, line rescue as well emergency first aid. It is going to be hard work but Lili and Owen will use their 999 Academy experiences to help them to succeed with the support of their Watch team members at Bridgwater Fire Station!

Good luck, Lili and Owen!
